The Connecticut River Flute Choir (CRFC) is an ensemble of musicians who love to play the flute! It was founded in spring 2016 by Hannah Smeltz, who also directs the Montague Community band. The members of CRFC represent a wide variety of musical and professional backgrounds, rehearse weekly, and perform at a variety of community and private events.
Flute choirs traditionally will include different voice ranges, similar to a vocal chorus of soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. Besides the traditional C-flute, CRFC features the piccolo, recorder, alto flute, bass flute, and even a contrabass flute!
Our repertoire includes pieces specifically written for flute, but also features other arrangements and compositions from Baroque to contemporary music. The distinctive sound of the flute choir provides a unique listening experience we hope you will enjoy!
